These logos were created for two small-scale marine biology initiatives. MAEO, launched in April 2021 by the ARBRE association and the University of Mauritius, is the first observatory dedicated to elasmobranchs (rays and sharks) in the Mascarenes, aiming to document species and raise public awareness.
MAETAG is a related research tag-focused program (Marine Elasmobranch Assessment Tagging), designed to aid data collection in marine conservation efforts. (No public reference found; it remains internal.)

The designs incorporated local marine motifs and scientific sensibility. The MAEO logo integrates stylized silhouettes of a shark and a manta ray, enclosed within a circular badge that references both marine life and the archipelago’s geography. For MAETAG, a more abstract, symbol-driven identity was crafted—suggesting tagging mechanisms or motion around a central manta and shark shape. MAETAG is also more adaptable with a modular design between the frame of the marine life and the frame of the typography.
