I'm Benjamin, a multidisciplinary designer based in Barcelona, currently transitioning into GIS, cartography and data visualization.
For over ten years, I've designed interfaces, visual identities, editorial layouts, festival stages and the occasional VR game. Mostly for cultural institutions, public services and causes I cared about. I co-designed products that supported 53,000 people facing digital exclusion, and 189,000 literacy assessments across France. Design has been my language, and I intend to keep speaking it.
That said, I'm shifting focus.
I've been drawn to maps and data for as long as I can remember. GIS lets me work on things I care about (climate, urbanism, conservation, energy) while using skills I already have: making complex information clear and readable. I'm currently learning Python, QGIS and spatial data analysis, and building my first projects in the field.
I'm not leaving design. I'll still be judging every piece of typography I come across. I'll still be translating complex things visually. I'm just moving from design as a job to design as a method, applied to data and geography.
If you work in GIS, cartography, spatial data or climate tech, please say hi! Same if you know someone who might need a data-viz person with a design background.
