Within the We Are Social Innovation Studio, we set out to experiment with spatial interaction, sound, and visual design. Drawing inspiration from Jean-Michel Jarre’s iconic laser harp, the idea was to reinterpret this legendary instrument into an immersive virtual reality experience.
The experience was co-designed and developed in close collaboration with creative technologist Frédéric Granon, whose expertise in generative systems and audio-visual experimentation was central to the project. Together, we created a tool that allowed users to generate both music and visuals through intuitive gestures in VR. After selecting a waveform type and a musical scale, users could trigger notes by interacting with virtual laser beams, while the visual environment evolved in real time based on the musical mode (major or minor).
This prototype offered a unique blend of VR interaction design, generative sound, and live visual feedback.
